THE EXPLORATION OF SOLITUDE
The Exploration of Solitude is a whimsical look at the social limits we place on ourselves. All people should explore their own capability and excellence. Solitude is not a sign of deficiency. Quiet contemplation is not a call for companionship. In essence, you will never be whole if you aren't comfortable with yourself.
The work in this series also explores my creative limits as an artist. I have moved through realism and impressionism to arrive in a playful place. This new style has challenged my ability to create movement, moods, and environments.
Each piece explores an attribute or profession that I find admirable. Dig deep and find the similarities and differences in your own life. Identify a new frontier to explore.
DUSK
Dusk focuses on the amazing vistas of Utah and the American West. There is special magic that happens in the high mountain valleys as the sun sets.
NEW BEGINNINGS
New Beginnings is the first series I created after I returned to oil painting. Some of the later pieces are done in acrylic to prove I can get the same quality of glazing and color work in both mediums.
The subject matter is pulled from nature, which is a major source of inspiration to me. Many of the flowers are photos I took myself, and many from my own garden or neighborhood.
